The Corona virus- COVID-19 in the Netherlands is spreading rapidly. RIVM (National Institute for Public Health gives advice about the Corona situation in the Netherlands and DMT takes theses advices to heart. This means that you should stay at home if you have complaints of the common cold, cough, sore throat or fever. We are also called upon by the national government to stay at home as much as possible to prevent further spreading of the virus.

If you have any of the above symptoms of the Corona virus, keep away from others, stay at home, contact your doctor by and inform your manager.

RIVM’s current advice is that we should work from home when possible to prevent the virus from spreading. This advice is also followed by DMT. All interns are requested to work from home, for at least this upcoming week. You can work from home if;

  • If your situation and function allow it
  • You have a good working VPN connection?
  • Avast protection software is installed on your computer

If you do not have a working VPN connection or do not have Avast installed on your computer, come to the canteen of building no. 3 Friday, March 13th between 3 and 4 pm so that Alex can fix this for you. We ask you to test the VPN connection as soon as possible (outside the DMT office).

Alex will be available to assist you during the weekend to help you if you can’t make it to the canteen today. If you don’t have the opportunity today or during the weekend, come to DMT on Monday morning. Alex will be there to help you.

If you do have a working VPN connection and Avast is installed on your computer, please see your manager. Discuss how and where you will carry out your work in the coming week and how you will monitor progress. We ask the home workers to handle the situation responsibly and to keep in touch with your manager as much as possible. If you work from home, please also mention this in your Outlook calendar.

Additionally, we are currently trying to identify all the potential risks and consequences in which we are also following the guidelines and advice of the RIVM and the WHO. Additionally, we will issue a statement/letter to our customers (and suppliers) at the beginning of next week. More information about that will follow at a later time.

Currently, there is a travel ban from Europe to the United States. Regarding all travel, we also follow the advice of RIVM however we need to keep an eye out for any changes in countries around us and act accordingly. We do not need to actively seek the situation. If travelling is absolutely necessary, we recommend that you consult your supervisor, consult distribution map and use your common sense.

Finally, don’t make any irresponsible decisions. If you’re in doubt, consult your physician/doctor, the GGD (public health service), supervisor or HR. Keep an eye on the RIVM website, our health and keeping the virus out/from spreading is our priority. The MT get together every day to discuss the situation. DMT will inform you accordingly about changes in the situation.
